Description

Since pyrometric cones deform progressively under advancing heat at fairly regular temperatures, they serve as accurate indicators of firing chamber temperatures. Usually three cones are selected and set in a clay pat at an 82° angle — one cone to deform at the recommended firing temperatures of the clay or glaze, one to deform at a lower temperature as a warning signal, and one higher. Cones should be located in the kiln so they may be observed through the peephole of the kiln during firing. Use junior size in most automatic cutoffs. Made in the U.S.A. 1-1/8" high.
