Description
This 1/4-hard, 24-karat yellow gold round wire, the bread-&-butter of jewelry making, is ideal for creating jump rings, pendant bails, ear wires, loops and myriad components that embellish other findings as well as a wide variety of wire-working, -wrapping and -weaving techniques. Metal that is 1/4-hard is a bit resistant to bending but readily takes shape; it is ideal for forming more simpler shapes as it will work-harden more quickly. Keep in mind that hardness is changeable (by annealing or heat-hardening) and is relative among metal types (each temper will feel and handle differently from one metal to another). When finishing your pieces, also keep in mind that the harder the metal is, the brighter a finish it will take.
Ideal for high-end designs and for pieces that are not exposed to a great deal of daily wear and tear, high-karat gold materials are highly workable and deliver a signature deep-yellow color to designs.
