This dead-soft 8-gauge jeweler’s brass round wire is ideal for creating jump rings, pendant bails, loops and a myriad of components that embellish other findings; use it as practice wire before wire-wrapping with precious metal wire. Dead soft wire is easy to bend, shape and hammer; it is an ideal starting point for forming, shaping and wire-wrapping. Keep in mind that hardness is changeable (by annealing or heat-hardening) and is relative among metal types (each temper will feel and handle differently from one metal to another). When finishing your pieces, also keep in mind that the harder the metal is, the brighter a finish it will take.
Jeweler's brass is a great choice when you want a color as close as possible to 14K yellow gold at a base-metal price point. Also known as red brass, NuGold, Merlin's gold and jeweler’s bronze, this material fires well with BRONZclay™ and with bronze sheet, wire and findings, offering you a wider range of design options.
