An ideal addition to vintage or modern jewelry designs this round garnet cabochon displays a deep red color and features a rose-cut. Use a single stone as an accent, set a pair as a simple pair of earrings or use multiples in the same or complementary colors for complex designs. Traditional red garnet derives its deep color from iron and magnesium. Garnet exhibits few inclusions, and those that are present tend to be rounded, seedlike crystals with irregular edges. Garnet is the birthstone for January.

Garnets are actually a family of closely related stones. The most common color is red, but garnets are also found in green, orange, pink and blue.

A favorite of yesteryear, this rose-cut faceting features a flat base (no pavilion) and a crown made up of triangular facets.
