Sliced from dyed blue chalcedony (approximately 4mm thick), this irregular pear-shaped cabochon is finished on both sides: one side is faceted all over, the other has a polished flat face and a faceted edge. This double-sided stone is perfect for wire-wrapping designs. The color of this stone can range from a medium turquoise-blue to a darker shade.
A compact microcrystalline quartz, chalcedony (pronounced "cal-SID-nee") is a tough, durable stone that is ideal for carving, cabochons, and beads. Pure chalcedony is white; individual chalcedonies are labeled by the colors that come from trace minerals. Most varieties of chalcedony are dyed to enhance their color.
