A beautiful porcelain gaiwan teacup with decorative throwing lines. The gaiwan is a versatile tea bowl made up of a saucer, a handleless cup, and a lid. It is used for both the infusing and consuming of more delicate teas such as green or white teas. Usually, all three parts of the gaiwan are held by the drinker at once. The saucer is held with the fingers of the right hand while the thumb rests on the edge of the bowl, holding it steady. The left hand then holds the lid, which is used to brush away the tea leaves before drinking.
