How To Properly Install A Pin Stem The quality of your pin and brooch designs includes the strength and ease of use of its working parts. Know how to properly attach a pin stem to finish your brooch designs. Step 1 Taking into account the length of your pin stem, solder the joint and catch onto your pin back. Step 2 Insert the pin stem into the joint, making sure it is properly aligned (curving downward) with the joint as shown. Step 3 Gently squeeze the joint ears to close them over the rivet.
