Wax covered fabric is an eco-friendly, reusable alternative to plastic wrap that hugs bowls with just the right amount of cling. It’s perfect for wrapping snacks, fruit, veggies, cheese, bread and even bowls, and even sandwiches can be wrapped and sealed by winding a string around a button.
Replace the plastic wrap in your kitchen with these easy to make, and long lasting waxed fabric alternative. Incredibly easy to care for, all you need to do is wash in warm water (not too hot or you'll melt the wax) with mild dish soap and allow to air dry. In this workshop students will carve their own stamp which will be used to personalize and print their fabrics which are then immersed in beeswax to create beautiful reusable wraps. We will make a variety of sizes as well as sewing on some buttons to create sealed sandwich wraps.
Taking the time to create something really unique is a beautiful way of connecting with the textile and the environment. It's the perfect project for learning to print fabrics whilst creating sustainable food wrapping.
